Sacred, Mundane, Divine

by Christopher Lovejoy on April 12, 2021

We’ve heard it said: “I hold this sacred” or “this is so mundane” or “this is absolutely, positively divine!” The tone of these declarations is quite different, as is the vitality of each. Each of these dimensions of life has its own unique wisdom, with its own place, both in life and in love.

Sacred wisdom concerns itself with that which is inviolable ~ with that which cannot be violated with impunity, with that which should not be violated with impunity, if one really and truly cares enough about serving and pre-serving a quality of heart and soul in relation to others.

Mundane wisdom concerns itself with that which is malleable ~ with that which is found in the ordinary course of events, with that which is most preoccupied with worldly matters. Such wisdom speaks plainly and simply to the lifelong task of pre-serving coherence ~ with consistency.

Divine wisdom concerns itself with that which is invulnerable ~ with that which ignites a robust sense of promise and possibility, with that which activates, generates, and perpetuates spiritual power that, for the most part, remains dormant until the ego is strong enough to draw it out.

bonus tip:

green is the color of sacred; red, orange, or yellow is the color of mundane; blue is the color of divine

Herewith, a taste of sacred, mundane, and divine wisdom to satisfy soul, ego, and spirit, respectively.

My Body, My Temple (Sacred)

I invite you now to dwell, with a sense of the sacred, on one subject or object that you hold precious.

It might be your relationship with a child, partner, or elder in your life; it might be a talisman, a lucky charm, or an amulet with magical powers; it might even be a myth or a metaphor that speaks to your happiness, to your contentment or enchantment, to your discernment or fulfillment.

Whatever it is, welcome its hold on you. Let it be as it is. And if you feel so inclined, journal about it, generate some art around it, find someone with whom you can converse about it. Here, I will now speak truth, love, and wisdom to my body, to recall and recognize its sacred quality:

In flow, this body of mine is divine, a vehicle that conveys all manner of inspirations; at rest, this body of mine is sacred, a vessel that contains all manner of invitations. You might say that this body of mine is a temple, and if you did, you wouldn’t be too far from the truth of my feeling.

At rest, this body of mine can be as still as a statue, awaiting drainage from the monkey mind, and at rest, when this body of mine absorbs the sights and sounds of nature, it has reason to walk away feeling restored and refreshed. At rest, it dwells in peace, even as it welcomes unity.

At rest, my body can take a moment to realize its need for rest and relaxation, for relief and restoration, for contentment and refreshment. In saying this, I do find it rather curious, paradoxical, ironic even, that this body of mine never rests, can never rest ~ an ecosystem of countless microbes coming and going, in service to the interests of life in ways and by means we have yet to fully comprehend.

Be this as it is, those microbes most aligned with sanctity will always have the upper hand.

Note the plain and simple character of these clear, concise, and comprehensive nuggets in view of life, all the more to effectively negotiate and navigate the ordinary and worldly dimensions of a life lived and loved on Earth at this time.

Waking Up to The Dream (Divine)

The script that follows is one that makes a quantum leap to some future time and place. This sort of scripting is popular among those who are looking to create energetic vortices of opportunity and possibility to bend personal reality ~ and to assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.

See if you can extract some nuggets of divine wisdom from the scenario that follows . . .

I can hardly believe how quickly everything came to be for me in recent weeks. Here I am, living and loving the life of my dreams, living happy and carefree, with a future bright with promise and possibility, in a place I call home. How did all this happen so quickly and effortlessly?

Astounding!!

I slept through the night without waking even once. When I did awaken, I recalled that my dreams were exquisite beyond belief. So warm, kind, sweet, and gentle; so loving, trusting, caring, forgiving. It was like heaven ~ and then some. I had to ask: could it get any better than this?

Truly awesome!

I confess, what a strange sensation it is to be living and loving the life of my dreams. The universe, the matrix, the field of infinite possibilities ~ whatever it is you wish to call it ~ came through for me in ways and by means that I could not even imagine was possible to me and for me.

Par excellence!

I cannot thank my true, deep, high Self enough for the many beautiful and wondrous blessings that have been bestowed upon me, and to think that all I had to do, initially, was to show up by intending and inviting, observing and listening, and then proceeding to get out of my own way.

Truly amazing!

When I feel into my many and various opportunities and possibilities here and now, it’s like I can now live two exquisitely beautiful, wonderful lives ~ one waking and one dreaming ~ both of which are dreamy beyond belief! I must confess, I have to pinch myself, and to remind myself: this is real!

Really and truly!

All I know is that I love ~ absolutely, positively love ~ how I feel, beyond just feeling thoroughly rested, relaxed, restored, and refreshed. Truth be told, and why not tell it, I’ve never felt so good in my life.

“life happens, not to me, but for me”
